Here is a quick rundown of how to install Path of Exile in wine utilizing DXVK

  1. Download PoE installer. Login on site to enable download link

    https://www.pathofexile.com/

  2. Build Win10 64 bit prefix. Fix paths appropriately

    WINEARCH=win64 WINEPREFIX=/home/andrew/Games/wine/pathofexile/ wineboot
    WINEARCH=win64 WINEPREFIX=/home/andrew/Games/wine/pathofexile/ winetricks win10

  3. Install PoE

    WINEARCH=win64 WINEPREFIX=/home/andrew/Games/wine/pathofexile/ wine PathOfExileInstaller.exe

  4. Make new entry in Lutris:

    * enabled DXVK
    * wine ge-3.6 (can use newer if available)
    * ensure Lutris runtime is ENABLED

  5. If it does not exist, create

    ~/My Games/Path of Exile/production_Config.ini

  6. Add the following into aforementioned config, in the DISPLAY section, correct the resolution if need be, and windowing options. I personally prefer a window. Fullscreen works just fine too. But this section is what I have (minus a few system specific things). The key parts are the directx verion parts. To use DXVK, you MUST be in DX11 on x64. We need to force several options. This config was fine on an NVIDIA GTX 970.

    [DISPLAY]
    borderless_windowed_fullscreen=false
    resolution_height=1080
    resolution_width=1920
    directx_version=11
    dx11_antialias_mode=0
    dx9_antialias_mode=0
    dynamic_resolution_fps=60
    fullscreen=false
    global_illumination_detail=0
    light_quality=1
    max_PS_shader_model=ps_4_0
    max_VS_shader_model=vs_4_0
    maximize_window=true
    post_processing=false
    resolution_height=1023
    resolution_width=1680
    screen_shake=false
    shadow_type=hardware_3_samples
    texture_filtering=1
    texture_quality=1
    use_dynamic_resolution=false
    vsync=false
    water_detail=0

  7. Run PoE, let it install files

  8. Login and manipulate the graphics to your liking
